Welcome to a bespoke home located in historical Strathcona, at the edge of the ravine, featuring 4,000 total square feet with mesmerizing views of the treetops of the ravine. Designed by architect Chris Lemke from Alloy Homes, this home was built on a double-wide lot surrounded by natural landscape. This isolated estate is located at the edge of Strathcona, connected to the heart of Edmonton. As you step inside, recognizable elements play a key role in creating a warm and modern feel to the living areas. The main floor is ideal to entertain friends and family, with all of the rooms designed with large windows situated in key locations to capture the most natural light, at all times of the day. The attention to detail is unique, and places value to aspects like the limestone floors with fossil and shell imprints. The kitchen is central, and acts as an anchor to facilitate company. Having the living and dining room to the side creates a natural environment to enjoy time with valued guests. The two areas are ever so slightly separated with a one-of-a-kind fireplace, surrounded with Douglas-fir wood, coated with solid copper. The main floor accommodates loads of storage, an office space, and a fully contained guest suite. All levels of this home flow with the indoors and outdoors, with access to balconies in key areas. The simple and clean elements of the home are recurring through specific aspects, like the solid walnut staircase, and its rectangular pierced railings, center to 20 foot tall ceilings, featuring a custom-designed chandelier from New York artist David Weeks. The upper level is home to a spacious master bedroom, featuring a private roof-top balcony with a wood-burning fireplace, large walk-in closet, and a beautifully crafted ensuite bathroom. Adjacent to the master bedroom is a generous room with loads of windows overlooking the ravine, ideal for a library or an additional bedroom. The upper level is completed by an additional bathroom and the laundry room. The walk-out lower level plays a key role in enjoying the isolated setting of this estate. With access to the outdoors, it’s easy to enjoy the sounds and other elements of nature and wildlife. The family room features a unique masonry fireplace, perfect to keep the home warm during cooler summer evenings. The ultimate goal of the design was to inspire the livability of the home to be integrated with its unique location within the ravine, rather than beside it.
